African business developments & opportunities – July 2015

It has been reported that there are 13 TO 14 NEW HOTELS being built in the Ikoyi, Lekki and Victoria Island areas of the city of LAGOS, NIGERIA.

There is much interest by mining houses and suppliers, operating in the ZAMBIAN AND DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO COPPERBELTS, in a new SOLWEZI-KOLWEZI ROUTE. The existing main border post at Kasumbalesa is congested and inefficient.  Operators refer to alternative cross-border routes namely, a route at Sakabinde on the border to the west of Solwezi as well as another road to the border north of Solwezi.

The ZAMBEZI RIVER BASIN AUTHORITY has warned countries depending on HYDRO POWER FROM THE ZAMBEZI RIVER that there will be considerably less electricity generation due to the severe drought in the region.
