Cape Verde is an island nation located in the central Atlantic Ocean, approximately 570 kilometres off the west coast of Africa. The country consists of ten volcanic islands, nine of which are inhabited, with its capital city in Praia on Santiago Island. Known for its political stability, strategic location, and growing tourism sector, Cape Verde has established itself as one of Africa’s most stable democracies.

Political System

Cape Verde is a unitary semi-presidential republic. The President serves as head of state, while the Prime Minister is the head of government. Legislative authority is vested in the National Assembly, and the country has maintained a strong record of democratic governance, peaceful elections, and respect for the rule of law since the introduction of multi-party democracy in 1991.
