LEX Africa has again made a contribution to Lex:lead, an organisation which offers an
annual essay competition on topics of law and development to law students from the world’s
least developed countries for one time USD500 awards. LEX Africa’s award recipients for
2025 are Ms Amanda Udzu and Mr Kofi Asante-Krobea who are both students at the
University of Ghana. Their essays dealt with how laws regulating climate change and the
environment may support economic development.
Amanda has a keen interest in copyright, environmental, commercial, international and
human rights law. Kofi is the current head of the Library and Editorial Committee of the
University of Ghana’s School of Law and is particularly interested in fintech law, technology
related legal fields and arbitration.
Says LEX Africa chairperson Pieter Steyn “We are delighted to support Lex:lead and wish
Amanda and Kofi all the best for their future studies and endeavours. Young lawyers are the
future of the African legal profession and LEX Africa is committed to supporting their further
education and development as they will play a vital role in maintaining the rule of law and an
