LEX Africa’s CSR Programme supports worthy organisations operating in Africa.
Lex:lead is a group of international lawyers and friends which offers an annual essay competition to law students from the world’s least developed countries for one-time financial awards.
LEX Africa has for several years supported Lex:lead’s initiative which acts as a “stepping stone” for young, aspiring legal minds in developing countries where there remain significant social and developmental challenges. Its value is derived from both the financial incentive and the professional development opportunities it offers.
LEX Africa is sponsoring two students in Lex:lead’s latest essay competition; Mr Jason Kausa, a student at Kopaline University, Zambia and Mr Richard Kyeremateng (Ghana), a student at the Ghana School of Law, Ghana.
Says LEX Africa chairperson Pieter Steyn “law students and young lawyers are the cornerstone of the future African legal profession. Recognising this, LEX Africa is deeply committed to supporting their continued education and professional development. We believe investing in law students and young lawyers is essential to strengthening the rule of law and promoting an independent judiciary, both of which are fundamental pillars for Africa’s future sustainable development and economic growth.”
LEX Africa is delighted to support Lex:lead and wish Jason and Richard success in their future careers.”
