LEX Africa successfully held its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Accra, Ghana, 3-6 June 2026, in partnership with its Ghanaian member Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah, bringing together members from 19 countries across the continent for a day of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strategic discussion. The AGM agenda includes panel discussions, networking, management reports, decisions on LEX Africa’s strategy and the election of a new management committee.
The Value of In-Person Connection
LEX Africa is an Alliance of leading African law firms established in 1993 for the purpose of advising local and international clients on their trade, business, investment and other activities in Africa. For the LEX Africa Alliance, AGMs, which rotate to a different African country each year, bring together members from across the Continent to maintain and strengthen relationships and the foundation of mutual trust on which LEX Africa is built.

Because members have strong personal and professional relationships, LEX Africa functions as a cohesive Pan African unit. The AGM featured insightful panel discussions on key African legal, business and regulatory developments:
- Doing Business in Ghana: Panellists explored the local regulatory landscape, highlighting the strategic advantages, investment incentives, and operational steps necessary for foreign enterprises to successfully enter the Ghanaian market.
- Emerging Issues in African Arbitration: Panellists focused on evolving dispute resolution trends across the Continent, addressing institutional updates and enforcement practices aimed at building investor confidence.
- Getting the Most Out of Africa’s Extraction Sector: Panellists debated royalty regimes and local participation frameworks, analysing how to balance sovereign resource management with competitive commercial incentives.
- Bridging Africa’s Infrastructure Gaps: Panellists focused on Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and mapped out how structured legal frameworks can successfully unlock private capital for major transport, energy, utility and other projects.
