DLA Piper and CMS Cameron McKenna are delighted to have won the TrustLaw Collaboration Award for their work with the Anti-Domestic Violence Network/Beijing Fanbao (China), supporting advocacy for anti-domestic violence legislation in China.

The TrustLaw Connect Awards celebrate ground-breaking pro bono projects undertaken by legal teams with high-impact organizations around the world.
our congratulations to DLA Piper and CMS Cameron McKenna lawyersย  who worked collaboratively during the first half of this year to produce a comparative study of laws on domestic violence for Beijing Fanbao.

The domestic violence research covered jurisdictions across Asia, Europe and Africa, which was compiled and translated into Mandarin in order to become a resource for advocating for change. Beijing Fanbao has since utilised the report to press for improvements and much-needed updates to the anti-domestic violence legislation in China.

Sir Nigel Knowles, Global Co-Chief Executive Officer at DLA Piper, commented: โ€œDLA Piper is immensely proud to have won the TrustLaw Collaboration Award with CMS Cameron McKenna.Through working together we were able to achieve a greater impact for the only domestic violence NGO in China, helping Beijing Fanbao to shed light on a very important, but fairly hidden issue.โ€

Olivia Quaid, Partner at CMS Cameron McKenna, said: โ€œCMS has thoroughly enjoyed working with DLA Piper on this project and is proud to have won this award. We hope that the research report will assist an informative debate on new legislation on an incredibly important global issue.ย We would also like to thank John W Ffooks & Co, Werksmans Attorneys and Kaplan & Stratton who provided local law advice in respect of African jurisdictions, Intel Corporation who worked alongside our CMS colleagues in France and also TransPerfect Legal Solutions for translating the report into Mandarinโ€.
