LEX Africa attends the IBA Investing in Africa Conference

LEX Africa chairman Pieter Steyn, director of Werksmans Attorneys, South Africa, and Sim Katende partner at Katende, Ssempebwa & Co, LEX Africa member for Uganda, attended the 3rd Annual IBA Investing in Africa Conference in June 2017, Paris, France.

The conference presented by the IBA African Regional Forum is supported by the IBA European Regional Forum, the IBA Asia Pacific Regional Forum and the IBA Banking Law Committee, as well as the IBA Mining Law Committee, IBA Power Law Committee and IBA Oil and Gas Law Committee all of the Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Law Section (SEERIL).

The 2017 Investing in Africa Conference focused on the rapidly changing economic, regulatory, and legal landscape surrounding investments in the growing markets of sub-Saharan Africa and the latest developments in the mining, oil and gas, power, and banking sectors while providing insights on what investors, governments and lawyers may expect from these sectors in the next five years.

The IBAโ€™s Investing in Africa Conference brings together highly qualified panelists from government, academia, investment firms, and in-house legal departments for discussions that cut across Francophone, Lusophone and Anglophone Africa.
